The four EU universities have collaborated to prepare the fully funded two-year master’s degree Scholarship. The Erasmus “IMSOGLO” program’s goal is to teach participants about the nature of soils, as well as how they form and interact with plants. The International Master in Soils and Global Change is known by its acronym, IMSOGLO. Students also possess a thorough awareness of high-level objectives like the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN as well as other global and European aspirations like the EU’s Green Deal. They can consciously contribute to research that is relevant to policy, which is essential for maintaining soil health in the face of climate change and for sustainable soil usage.

The International Master in Soils and Global Change (IMSOGLO) prepares the next generation of soil scientists to understand the chemistry, physics, and biology of soils, including their formation and interactions with plants, to measure, monitor, and model soil properties and processes in space and time, and to develop and implement climate-smart soil management policies. Understanding and addressing how climate change affects soil conditions and processes, and vice versa, requires specialized soil scientists. This enables them to comprehend and value the different points of view at play while navigating the frequently conflicting interests of land users, managers, and other stakeholders.
